Eventually this will be a place to wander through prose that’s important to me, mine and others, old and new… for now, it’s a musing. Maybe amusing, too.
My first prose work featured two horses who gave the piece its name, Starfire and Trigger. I wrote it in pencil on lined paper and was so proud that I wrote it in my newly-acquired cursive script rather than printing the words. I’ve been writing for my town’s local paper for decades and have had essays and poetry published elsewhere as well.
I wrote Losing Uncle Tim early in the AIDS crisis. It won the LAMBDA Literary Award for children’s books that year, stayed in print for more years than expected and became one of the anchor books when the publisher expanded into paperbacks.
I have a next article deadline a week from tonight as I’m writing this so it’s time for me to switch focus. Check the prose submenu, too, and come back again soon to see what may be new.
